STEVE NOUJAIM

In 1981 Steve Noujaim read "The Flight of the Mew Gull", Henshaws book about his early life and in particular the Cape flight. This amazing story got him thinking and in 2001 he and his wife Anna decided to build an aeroplane to attempt the challenge flight.
Henshaw′s challenge is very specific. It does not relate to the records as such. It relates to his own flight, there and back in less time than he did it in a 200hp single engined propellor driven aircraft, solo, by whatever means.
Not too surprising that nobody has beaten him, it seemed beyond the limits of man when he did it. Last year Chalkie broke the reord, but the other way round, Steve Noujaim intends to make the flight in the Henshaw direction London to Capetown and back.
If you watched the video on the front page you have already seen Steve at work and play, nowadays he is a Long haul airline Captain. For relaxation Steve teaches Aerobatics and displays warbirds, when he can find the time. The eagle eyed among you may have spotted Steve in a Spitfire signed by wartime test pilot, Alex Henshaw.

Steve and Mr Henshaw met and corresponded regarding the planning of the trip, here is a scan of a letter to Steve.
